INFORMATION

West Darfur is located in the western part of Sudan, bordering Chad. Beida, El Geneina (the capital city), and Kereneik are the largest localities in West Darfur in regard to population, farming, pastoral activities, and trade. People are often known as ‘African farmers’ or ‘Arab nomads’; such categorisations miss the nuances of shifting livelihood patterns and tribal affiliations
